Research Experience and Training Coordination Core
Overarching goal: To train the next generation of scientists and thought leaders in team science and leadership and communications skills to tackle broad environmental health problems and policies affecting communities.
Approach: RETCC will (i) recruit and prepare a diverse set of pre- and post-doctoral trainees well-grounded in science principles and data awareness, (ii) supplement academic training with regulatory, ethical, and diversity training including the responsible conduct of research and data science, (iii) monitor, evaluate, and report program effectiveness. Work with Community Engagement Core to develop the Illinois PFAS Research to Action (I-PRA) fellow program for community-led research and science communication and community engagement training. Interface with Data Management and Analysis Core and Analytical Services Core on workshops, data science, and experimental design; and with Administrative Core on entrepreneurship and translational skills.
